Graphic Design
Once Upon a Time I was a Graphic Designer
When someone asks me what I do for a living, mild panic ensues and I mumble “I’m a Web Developer”, nervously awaiting the empty silence that so often follows.
Muttering these words can sour the atmosphere in any room as fast as the British weather changes. This seemingly simple phrase merely attempts to serve as a bit of a catch-all for what I actually do, aimed to mask some of the boring intricacies of my daily work. Still, it doesn't roll off the tongue with great confidence.
It would certainly be much easier at social gatherings to proclaim to be a firefighter or even a doctor, as these professions seem to stimulate conversation as opposed to blank expressions and such disdain.
The Web Developer job title does, however, out rank my previous experiences when I used to tell people, “I’m a Graphic Designer”.
Thankfully, these days, I predominantly work on the web, developing web sites and web apps, only really getting involved with graphic design in self motivated projects.
For one reason or an other, I very rarely show off my work, so below are a few of the designs I’ve created over the years.
